The Lord Bute is an established, two AA Rosette restaurant known for refined cooking, calm confidence, and a deep respect for ingredients. Now led by Head Chef Daniel Shelley, the kitchen continues to build on its reputation while moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Daniel brings a precise, thoughtful approach to modern British cooking, focusing on seasonality, balance, and flavour above all else. His menus celebrate locally sourced produce and classic techniques, refined with a contemporary touch. The result is food that feels confident, elegant, and grounded rather than overworked.

The dining experience at The Lord Bute is designed to be both polished and relaxed. Our front of house team deliver attentive, discreet service that allows guests to enjoy the food and atmosphere without formality getting in the way. It is a restaurant where standards are high, but comfort is paramount.

Guests can enjoy carefully composed set menus at lunch and a considered à la carte offering in the evening, each designed to reflect the season and the kitchen’s evolving style under Daniel’s leadership.

The Lord Bute previously operated under the direction of Bradley Green, whose influence helped establish the restaurant’s award winning foundations. That legacy remains part of the restaurant’s story, while the focus is firmly on the present and future.

Restaurant Opening Hours:

Our restaurant in Christchurch welcomes guests for lunch starting at 12pm and dinner from 6:30pm, every Tuesday through Saturday. On Sundays, we offer a delightful lunch experience beginning at 11:30am until 2:30pm. Afternoon tea is served Tuesday – Saturday from 3pm – 5pm, kindly book in advance.
